North Vancouver is actually made up of two municipalities.
1. The CNV – City of North Vancouver (more) had a population of 45,165 (at the time of the 2006 national census) and bills themselves as the “ . . . urban core of the beautiful North Shore . . . ”. The city is along the Burrard Inlet to the south, roughly bounded by 29th Street to the north, McKay Avenue to the west and Brooksbank Avenue to the east. (Map). The map shows that some of the boundaries are uneven between the City and the District. See also, Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia reference., and
2. The DNV - North Vancouver District (more) had a population of 82,562 (at the time of the 2006 national census) and “ . . . is more than just a spectacular backdrop for one of the world's most scenic cities. It's teeming with life, wild and urban alike . . . ”. Surrounding the City of North Vancouver on the “North Shore”, The North Vancouver District is along Burrard Inlet to the south, up the slopes of Mount Fromme - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopdia, Grouse Mountain - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and Seymour Mountain - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (part of the Coast Range) to the north, Capilano River to the west and Indian Arm on Burrard Inlet to the east. (Maps) and/or (Map). See also, Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia reference.
A third city making up the “North Shore” is West Vancouver, which is covered on a separate work-in-progress web site, West Vancouver Destinations©.
