Lynn Valley

Lynn Valley (and, Lynn Valley Road) was named after a British Royal Engineer (John Linn) who settled in the Valley in the 1890s. At that time Lynn Valley Road was a long, skinny cord-wood logging skid road; locally called a cordory road and/or tote roads.

Subsequently, following the Second Anglo-Boer War (South Africa, 1899-1902) (see also, Boer Wars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, and the War to End All Wars, was a global military (World Wide, 1914-1918) (see also, World War 1 - Wikipedia, the free encylopedia) several veterans were granted home-steading priviledges in Lynn Valley. By 1906 Lynn Valley was the second largest settlement on the North Shore, outside of Moodyville. The North Vancouver Streetcar system, from the ferry quay at the bottom of Lonsdale Avenue, was extended to Lynn Valley in 1912. ... “The line ran from the foot of Lonsdale, east on 3rd St., north on Queensbury, and northeast on Lynn Valley (Pipeline Rd.) terminating at Dempsey Rd. ... The fare from Lonsdale to Allan Rd. (churches) was 5¢ and 6¢ to Crawford Ave. where a winding path led down into Lynn Canyon by way of Mr. Crawford’s Tea Garden. “ - DNV Web Site - Photographs and History of Lynn Valley .
